Kings vs. Jazz game highlights: Huerter, Fox, Sabonis, DeRozan lead blowout win over Utah

Kevin Huerter scored a season-high 26 points to lead the Kings to a 141-97 victory over the Utah Jazz on Sunday at Golden 1 Center in Sacramento.

Huerter was shooting a career-low 29.7% from 3-point range going into the game, but he went 10 of 14 from the field and 6 of 9 from long distance in his finest performance of the season.

The Kings will have three days off before they visit the New Orleans Pelicans on Thursday.

Stat leaders

De’Aaron Fox had 21 points and nine assists for the Kings (12-13). Domantas Sabonis recorded another double-double with 19 points, 12 rebounds and six assists. DeMar DeRozan and Doug McDermott scored 18 points apiece while Malik Monk added 16.

Keyonte George scored 25 points to lead the Jazz (5-18). John Collins had 19 points and seven rebounds.

Halftime report

The Kings led 26-23 at the end of the first period. They went up by as many as 20 in the second quarter and carried a 62-45 advantage into the halftime break.

Huerter provided a nice spark off the bench for Sacramento. He had 14 points, four rebounds and two assists in 12 minutes, going 5 of 9 from the field and 4 of 7 from 3-point range.

Blowing it open

Sacramento blew the game open in the third quarter, outscoring Utah 43-29 to amass a 31-point lead.

The Kings shot 62.1% from the field and went 3 of 6 from beyond the arc in the third period. They had a 26-10 advantage on points in the paint and outscored the Jazz 10-2 in points off turnovers.

Dougie McBuckets

McDermott came off the bench to score 18 points in eight minutes in the fourth quarter. He went 6 of 6 from 3-point range before missing his first shot, drawing “Dougie” from the home crowd as the lead swelled to 46 points.

Ruled out

Kings center Isaac Jones was ruled out for Sunday’s game due to illness.

Jones has been called on to play a bigger role recently, giving the Kings much needed size, length and depth. He played 18.8 minutes per contest over a five-game stretch, averaging 9.6 points and 3.6 rebounds while making 21 of 32 (.656) field-goal attempts.

Still sidelined

Kings forward Trey Lyles missed his seventh consecutive game with a right calf strain.

Lyles sustained the injury in a Nov. 25 game against the Oklahoma City Thunder. The team initially said Lyles would be reevaluated in three to four weeks. He is nearing the two-week mark.

Up next

The Kings will hit the road to face the New Orleans Pelicans on Thursday at Smoothie King Center in what amounts to a consolation game after both teams were eliminated from the NBA Cup in-season tournament.

The Pelicans (5-19) have been plagued by injuries this season. The team announced Sunday that Brandon Ingram will be out indefinitely with a left ankle sprain. Zion Williamson, currently out with a left hamstring strain, has appeared in only six games. Ingram, Williamson and Dejounte Murray – the team’s three former All-Stars – have yet to play together this season.
