Flagrant foul injures Sacramento Kings star. Will he play against Golden State Warriors?

Kings star De’Aaron Fox was expected to miss Sunday’s road game against the Golden State Warriors after taking a hard fall as a result of a flagrant foul by Jaren Jackson Jr. in Friday’s win over the Memphis Grizzlies.

The Kings ruled Fox out against the Warriors due to a right glute contusion. Keegan Murray was cleared to play after missing the past two games with left ankle inflammation.

The Kings (16-19) have won three in a row under interim coach Doug Christie, who took the helm when Mike Brown was fired Dec. 27. They are 12th in the Western Conference, two games behind the Minnesota Timberwolves for the final play-in spot.

The Warriors (17-16) are tied for ninth in the West, two games behind the Dallas Mavericks for the No. 6 seed. They will be facing the Kings on the second night of a back-to-back after playing host to the Grizzlies on Saturday at Chase Center in San Francisco.

Fox was injured after being undercut by Jackson on a dunk attempt with 43.8 seconds remaining in Friday’s 138-133 victory over the Grizzlies. Jackson was assessed a flagrant 1 foul on the play.

Fox is averaging 26.7 points, 4.9 rebounds, 6.2 assists and 1.6 steals this season. He is shooting 48.6% from the field, 32.1% from 3-point range and 80.8% at the free-throw line.

Fox has been even better during Sacramento’s current winning streak, putting up 30.3 points per game while shooting 53.2% from the field and 86.4% on 7.3 free-throw attempts per game.

Murray is averaging 11.6 points and 7.4 rebounds while shooting 41.3% from the field and 28.5% from beyond the arc.
