Sacramento Kings make roster moves, waive 1 player and guarantee contracts for 2 others
The Kings had to make some roster decisions Tuesday as the leaguewide deadline for guaranteed contracts approaches.
All contracts for the 2024-25 NBA season become fully guaranteed Friday. Players had to be released by Tuesday to clear waivers ahead of Friday’s deadline.
The Kings are waiving center Orlando Robinson while veteran forwards Jae Crowder and Doug McDermott will have their contracts guaranteed for the rest of the season, a league source told The Sacramento Bee, confirming a report from ESPN’s Shams Charania. The moves leave the Kings with one open roster spot.
Robinson, a 24-year-old center from Fresno State, came to Sacramento on a one-year, $2.1 million contract with $500,000 in guaranteed money. He appeared in nine games for the Kings, averaging 2.1 points, 1.6 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 6.3 minutes per game.
McDermott, a 33-year-old small forward, joined the Kings on a one-year, $3.3 million contract with $750,000 in guaranteed money. McDermott has appeared in 25 games this season. He is averaging 3.6 points in 8.7 minutes per game while shooting 41.3% from 3-point range.
Crowder, a 34-year-old power forward, signed a one-year, $2.6 million deal with the Kings in November. He has appeared in six games, averaging 3.3 points and 2.8 rebounds in 14.8 minutes per game.
