‘All is quiet’ in trade talks for Sacramento Kings star De’Aaron Fox, source says

Reports out of San Antonio on Friday suggested the Spurs were on the verge of completing a blockbuster trade to acquire Sacramento Kings star De’Aaron Fox, but that does not appear to be the case.

A source with direct knowledge of the situation told The Sacramento Bee “all is quiet as of now,” indicating that no deal was imminent despite increased chatter and growing speculation.

Trade rumors continued to swirl around Fox as the Kings (24-23) prepared to face the Oklahoma City Thunder (37-9) on Saturday at Paycom Center.

Dustin Garza of News 4 in San Antonio reported: “It has not been announced but sources are telling me that the De’Aaron trade to the Spurs is very close to being completed — if not already done. More details to come.”

Don Harris of News 4 tweeted: “Source: Spurs very active and perhaps close on complicated 4 team deal that would bring D’Aaron Fox to San Antonio. Stay tuned.”

Garza later added: “This is a major multi-team trade, and we’re letting NBA execs finish their jobs and inform the players first. We think you’ll be very happy. Stay tuned!”

The Kings opened trade talks for Fox earlier this week with San Antonio widely believed to be his preferred destination. The 27-year-old point guard is averaging 25.1 points, 5.0 rebounds, 6.2 assists and 1.5 steals in his eighth season out of Kentucky.
