Domantas Sabonis exited the Kings’ loss Friday to the Phoenix Suns after it appeared he aggravated the hamstring injury that caused him to miss the previous six games. It was his first game back.

“I think he wanted to continue to play,” Kings interim coach Doug Christie said. “But (there’s) no conversation. Sit down. When I see you do that, I’m not even playing around with that one. You are way too important to us.”

Sabonis after a play around the 8-minute mark in the fourth quarter grabbed his left hamstring and appeared to be in discomfort. He stayed in the game momentarily but took a seat on the bench during a timeout and didn’t return to the game while Christie kept Sacramento’s remaining four starters in despite Phoenix leading by 21 points.

“Hopefully it was nothing, and I don’t think it was,” Christie said.

The Kings didn’t have an update on Sabonis after Friday’s game, nor did Sabonis speak to reporters. He finished with his ninth triple-double of the season, scoring 12 points with 11 rebounds, 12 assists and three steals over 30 minutes.

The Kings play next on Monday when they host the Memphis Grizzlies to open a season-long seven-game home stand at Golden 1 Center. Sabonis initially suffered the injury during a March 1 road victory over the Houston Rockets.
