Kings vs. Mavericks: Injuries, matchups, 3 things to watch in play-in game

One team will be eliminated and the other will advance with a chance to make the playoffs when the Kings face the Dallas Mavericks in an NBA play-in game Wednesday at Golden 1 Center in Sacramento.

The winner will visit the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday in a second-round play-in game. The winner of that game will secure the No. 8 seed in the Western Conference and a first-round playoff matchup against the top-seeded Oklahoma City Thunder.

The Kings went 40-42 during the regular season to finish ninth in the Western Conference. The Mavericks went 39-43 to finish 10th.

The Kings went 3-0 against the Mavericks during the regular season, winning 110-100 on Dec. 30 in Sacramento, 129-128 in overtime on Feb. 10 in Dallas and 122-98 on March 3 in Dallas.

Here are three things to watch in Wednesday’s game.

Anthony Davis update

Mavericks center Anthony Davis is listed as probable despite a lingering left adductor strain. Kyrie Irving is out after undergoing season-ending knee surgery.

Davis has appeared in nine games since the Mavericks acquired him in the blockbuster trade that sent Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers, averaging 20.0 points, 10.1 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 2.2 blocks. The Mavericks are 6-3 with Davis in the lineup.

Sacramento injury news

The Kings have ruled out guard Malik Monk and forward Jake LaRavia.

Monk has missed the past three games with a left calf strain. Monk is expected to be reevaluated April 24.

LaRavia will miss his 11th consecutive game with a left thumb incomplete scaphoid fracture. LaRavia was cleared for light on-court activities on April 7.

3-point shooting

Sacramento’s 3-point shooting could be a big factor in this game if the Kings are hitting their shots.

The Kings are fourth in the NBA in 3-point shooting since the All-Star break at 38.5%. The Mavericks are 23rd at 34.5%.

Sacramento ranks 25th in 3-point attempts (33.8) since the break. Interim Kings coach Doug Christie wants them to attempt closer to 40 per game.
