Kings vs. Jazz: Sacramento has a long injury report and longer losing streak

The Sacramento Kings are on the verge of tying a 66-year-old franchise record as they prepare to play the Utah Jazz at Delta Center in Salt Lake City.

The Kings have lost 13 games in a row, the longest losing streak since the team relocated to Sacramento in 1985. The longest losing streak in franchise history is 14, set by the Cincinnati Royals in 1960 and matched by the Royals in 1972.

The Kings could match that record when they face the Jazz on Wednesday in the final game before the All-Star break. That outcome might be unavoidable with De’Andre Hunter, Zach LaVine, Malik Monk, Keegan Murray, Domantas Sabonis and Russell Westbrook sidelined by to injuries and illness.

The Kings (12-43) are coming off of a 120-94 loss to the New Orleans Pelicans. They have the worst record in the NBA and have not won a game since Jan. 16.

The Jazz (17-37) had lost eight of nine before beating the Miami Heat 115-111 on Monday. Jaren Jackson Jr., who was acquired from the Memphis Grizzlies prior to the NBA trade deadline, scored 22 points.

Utah has ruled Keyonte George (right ankle sprain) and Walker Kessler (left shoulder injury recovery) out for Wednesday’s game, but that’s nothing compared to Sacramento’s injury report.

LaVine, whose pinky soreness is now being described as a tendon injury, will miss his third consecutive game. Sabonis has been ruled out due to left knee injury management after missing the past three games due to lower back soreness.

Hunter (left eye iritis), Monk (illness), Murray (left ankle sprain) and Westbrook (left ankle soreness) have also been ruled out.
