Sacramento Kings signing former two-way standout to his first NBA contract
Daeqwon Plowden spent most of the past four seasons toiling in the G League, trying to demonstrate that he deserved an opportunity to play in the NBA after going undrafted out of Bowling Green in 2022.
Plowden proved his point when the Sacramento Kings gave him that opportunity in the final months of the 2025-26 season, and now the former two-way standout is being rewarded with his first standard NBA contract.
The Kings are signing Plowden to a two-year, $5.1 million deal, sources told Michael Scotto of HoopsHype. Depending on how the rest of the roster takes shape, the 27-year-old swingman could vie for backup minutes at shooting guard and/or small forward after spending time at both positions last season.
Plowden appeared in 32 games for Sacramento last season, averaging 10.8 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.3 assists while shooting 43% from the field, 33.3% from 3-point range and 85.7% at the free-throw line. Plowden played a key role in coach Doug Christie’s rotation late in the season with veterans such as Zach LaVine and Keegan Murray sidelined due to injuries.
Plowden had three consecutive 20-point games against the Philadelphia 76ers, Charlotte Hornets and Orlando Magic in late March. He scored a career-high 23 points in the game against Orlando, going 8 of 12 from the field and 6 of 10 from 3-point range.
Plowden spent time with the New Orleans Pelicans, Orlando Magic, Golden State Warriors and Atlanta Hawks organizations before signing a two-way contract with the Kings last summer. He averaged 22.5 points and 7.3 rebounds for the G League Stockton Kings.
