Kings’ late comeback falls short in 121-117 loss to Grizzlies

Player of the game: Jeff Green scored 29 points off the bench as the Memphis Grizzlies handed the Kings their fourth consecutive loss, 121-117 Saturday night at FedExForum. The Kings completed an 0-3 trip.

Turning point: After a slow start, the Kings trailed 24-18 with 3:26 left in the first quarter. But the Grizzlies went on a 20-6 run spanning the first and second quarters to open a double-digit lead that lasted until seven minutes remained. The Kings cut the deficit to 118-117 with 18.7 seconds to play on Darren Collison’s three-pointer. But after Courtney Lee’s two free throws opened a three-point lead, Collison lost the ball on a drive, and Lee made 1 of 2 free throws with 8.6 seconds left for the final margin.

X-factor: Sacramento gave up 26 points off 19 turnovers while scoring just 13 points off 13 Memphis turnovers.

Records: Kings 20-27, Memphis 28-20

Key injuries: DeMarcus Cousins left with 2:02 to play because of a left ankle injury. Marco Belinelli (gastroenteritis) sat out.
