Isaiah Thomas celebrates birthday at Kings’ expense in Celtics’ 128-119 win

Player of the game: Former King Isaiah Thomas had 22 points and nine assists on his 27th birthday to help the Boston Celtics defeat Sacramento 128-119 on Sunday at TD Garden. Thomas thwarted the Kings’ late comeback attempt with seven unanswered points in the fourth quarter. Sacramento has lost seven of its last eight games.

Turning point: The Kings had another shaky first quarter, giving up a season-high 46 points, and allowed a season-high 74 points in the first half. Sacramento tried to battle back from a deficit that reached 21 points.

X-factors: Sacramento converted 24 Boston turnovers into 26 points. But the Celtics offset those mistakes by shooting 56.0 percent from the field and 54.2 percent from three-point range.

Key injuries: Rudy Gay (sprained left ankle) and Ben McLemore (sprained right wrist) were out for the Kings.
