A day after President Donald Trump said during a rally that NFL owners should fire players who disrespect the flag, the aftermath has ranged from pro athletes (and Colin Kaepernick’s mother) sounding off to Trump disinviting NBA champion Stephen Curry from a White House visit.

Social media’s response? #TakeAKnee quickly became a trending topic on Twitter, with many users – as well as some media outlets – saying that all NFL players should kneel during the national anthem of Sunday’s games. On the other side, some of those who supported Trump’s sentiments called for a boycott of the NFL, marking their posts “#BoycottNFL.”
