How would a game of NFL’s highest-paid stars look? Only one 49er, Raider would play
The NFL is the top moneymaker in American sports.
Behind Commissioner Roger Goodell, the 32-team football league brought in $14 billion in revenue for the 2016-17 season, according to Sports Business Journal.
As this season nears the halfway point, here’s a look at the highest-paid players at each position.
This graphic from HowMuch.net breaks down player salaries from 25 positions. According to their chart, Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco earns this season’s top salary at $24.5 million. No other player on offense makes more than $18 million.
On defense, two players broke the $20 million mark: Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Justin Houston ($22.1 million) and Washington Redskins cornerback Josh Norman ($20 million). Overall, the 11 defensive players combine for $179.8 million – $30.4 million more than the 11 guys on offense.
There is one Raider and one 49er on the list, both on offense: Oakland guard Kelechi Osemele makes $13.5 million this season and San Francisco’s Kyle Juszczyk is the top-paid fullback at $3.8 million.
HowMuch.net’s graphic was compiled by numbers the cost information site got from Spotrac.com.
