Kansas City Chiefs wallop Oakland Raiders 31-13

Just a week after pounding their cross-bay rivals, the Oakland Raiders were hammered by the Kansas City Chiefs 31-13 Sunday in Kansas City.

The previous Sunday, the Raiders defeated the San Francisco 49ers 24-13, and fans gained hope that the dismal season – their record now is 2-12 – was destined for a good end.

But the Chiefs, behind a steady hand from quarterback Alex Smith, picked up steam after a slow start and dominated. That domination included several sacks of Raiders quarterback Derek Carr on defense and several big plays, including multiple Smith touchdown passes, on offense.

Kansas City’s record now is 8-6.
