Could Colin Kaepernick join the Raiders? His attorney is dropping hints

Colin Kaepernick’s attorney is back doing what he does best — dropping hints regarding the future of his high-profile client.

During a recent walk-and-talk with TMZ, it was more like the whiff of a whisper of a possibility of a hint.

“This is what I’m going to predict,” Mark Geragos said when asked if Kaepernick would ever be signed to an NFL contract. “I would just say, ‘Stay tuned.’ Next week there might be some news. That’s as far as I’m going to go.”

That’s what all the fan dancers say.

Geragos told TMZ that Kaepernick, his girlfriend, and Eric Reid have been watching the NFL this season. Neither Kaepernick nor Reid, pioneers of the silent kneeling protests before NFL games, have been signed since leaving the 49ers. Both are pursuing collusion grievances against the league.

“(Kaepernick) is watching the Miami Dolphins for (Kenny) Stills and the other guys who are still kneeling,” Geragos said.

Would that make the Dolphins a possible suitor for Kaepernick’s services?

“I wouldn’t say the Dolphins,” Geragos said. “I have two other teams who will remain nameless. I’ll just say this: If Al Davis was still alive… ”

Let us finish that thought for you. If Al Davis was still alive, Kaepernick would currently be in his second season with the Raiders. Davis had a fondness for players that other teams didn’t want. That went double for players that the 49ers didn’t want. So the Raiders, then? After all, current owner Mark Davis gave Nike the thumbs up for signing Kaepernick for its “Just Do It” campaign.

“That’s all I’m going to say,” Geragos said.

TMZ asked Geragos about rap artist Meek Mill referencing Kaepernick on his soon-to-be-released album.

“I’ve heard that,” Geragos said. “You know who Meek Mill was visited by when he was in custody?

None other than Patriots owner Robert Kraft.

Hey, you don’t have to draw me a picture. It looks like Kaepernick will be backing up Tom Brady or Derek Carr before you can say, “That’s all I’m going to say.”

Other quick-hit topics thrown at Geragos: The support of LeBron James, who lauded the Kaepernick/Nike partnership. “LeBron is an icon just like Colin,” the attorney said. “They absolutely transcend sports. They’re cultural icons.”

And: Is he anticipating that Nike will be creating a Colin Kaepernick shoe?

“Yes we are.”

Stay tuned. And pack a lunch.
