San Francisco 49ers

49ers Tevin Coleman still dealing with shoulder injury

The 49ers did not hold a full practice Wednesday ahead of the Super Bowl matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs, but they released an estimated participation report as if they had.

The team said running back Tevin Coleman, who dislocated his shoulder during the NFC Championship Game, would have missed practice, which lines up with what coach Kyle Shanahan said during his news conference Monday.

“Usually a week to rest it and it usually gets back in,” Shanahan said, before the team had Coleman’s MRI results. “I expect him to have a chance to play. Can’t hold me to that. We’ll find out more after the imaging, but expect him to have a good chance to play.”

Limited participants would have been linebacker Kwon Alexander (pectoral), defensive end Dee Ford (quadricep, hamstring) and safety Jaquiski Tartt (ribs). Linebacker Dre Greenlaw would have been a full participant after tweaking his ankle against Green Bay.

It appears Coleman is the only active 49er who has a chance at missing the Super Bowl, barring anything unforeseen. He landed awkwardly on his right shoulder during a 4-yard run inside Packers territory in the second quarter. Raheem Mostert scored his second of four touchdowns on the next snap.

Coleman was carted off the field after recording six carries for 21 yards. Mostert, of course, went on to have one of the best games in playoff history, becoming the first player to have 220 yards and four touchdowns during the 37-20 win.

The 49ers will hold normal practices Thursday and Friday. Shanahan will address reporters Friday and will provide updates on Coleman’s status.

For the Chiefs, receiver Demarcus Robinson (illness) was the only player listed as a nonparticipant.

Limited: defensive tackle Chris Jones (calf) and tight end Travis Kelce (knee).

Full participants: receiver Mecole Hardman (back), cornerback Morris Claiborne (shoulder), defensive end Tanoh Kpassagnon (hand) and center Austin Reiter (wrist).
