The 49ers will honor graduates with a virtual ceremony. Here’s how you can watch
The San Francisco 49ers will host a virtual graduation ceremony to honor the Class of 2020 and all levels of graduates at 5 p.m. Saturday. The ceremony will be streamed on 49ers.com, YouTube, Facebook and Twitter.
Recently retired 49ers left tackle Joe Staley will give the commencement address, defensive lineman Dee Ford will share his musical skills and Arik Armstead, Jerry Rice and Kyle Shanahan will also be participate according to a news release from the team.
“During such complicated times, it is crucial that we honor the Class of 2020 and recognize their hard work in reaching this important milestone of graduation,” said Jenni Luke, 49ers community impact vice president, in the news release. “We know first-hand from our STEM Leadership Institute graduates that it takes incredible effort and sacrifice to achieve this accomplishment and we are proud to be a part of their graduation day.”
During the ceremony, the team will honor its first graduating class of 49ers STEM Leadership Institute. The program was founded by the 49ers in 2014 and this year’s senior class is the first to complete the six-year program.
SLI provides multiyear, year-round academic support, skills training and leadership opportunities to students in middle and high school.
