How will you wager? 49ers vs. Rams odds, money line and player prop bets
The San Francisco 49ers are red hot, and the gambling world has taken notice.
For last week’s game with the Packers, bettors hated San Francisco, with 80% of wagers going toward Green Bay, according to Yahoo Sports. Not so this week. Yahoo Sports says about half the early bets were on the 49ers but a whopping 62% of the money was on San Francisco. It helps that the 49ers are getting 3.5 points, meaning the Rams have to win by four points or more for someone who bets on San Francisco to lose.
While sports betting is illegal in California, we are surrounded by states that will take a wager on the NFC championship game between the 49ers and Rams.. And, at the least, the money gives us an idea of what gamblers are thinking.
BetMGM.com has nearly 150 options for gamblers to select for the 49ers’ game. They range from very specific combinations of margins of victory and total points scored to very simple coin tosses, without actually betting on the game’s coin toss. For instance, gamblers can bet on the first team to call a timeout, with both teams requiring a bet of $115 in order to win $100.
▪ Will there be a safety? If there is, it will pay $750 on a $100 bet. If there isn’t, you’ll need to wager $2,000 in order to win $100.
▪ Will the total number of points be odd or even? Odd is a slight underdog, requiring a bet of $120 to win $100; even bettors will win $100 on a wager of $100.
▪ Will the game go into overtime? Yes will pay $900 on a $100 bet while you’ll have to bet $5,000 to win $100 on no overtime.
If those feel like crap shoots, pun intended, FoxBet allows you to to bet on your favorite player. Options include betting on how many yards Jimmy Garoppolo or Matthew Stafford throw or wagers on which players will score touchdowns. If you want to go for a larger payback, you can wager on combinations of players who will score to earn a multiplier.
There’s lots to consider if you have an upcoming trip to Oregon, Nevada or Washington, which all allow sports gambling. And look us up if you need a line on whether the 49ers will score a touchdown from inside 1.5 yards while leading by three in the last seven minutes of the third quarter. We know a guy.
