SANTA CLARA -- The 49ers were a bit tardy in announcing the news Saturday, so Jarryd Hayne broke it himself via his Twitter account:
“IT ALWAYS WORKS OUT!” he wrote. “I thank GOD for WHAT HE has done and going to do on this incredible journey!! I'm on the 53 MAN ROSTER FOR THE #49ers.”
Of course, while Hayne’s efforts to make it in the NFL has been a tremendous news item, especially in his native Australia, that he made the 49ers’ initial 53-man roster is not a surprise. He was the team’s most dynamic return man during the preseason and finished second in the NFL in rushing during the preseason.

That he appeared on special teams coverage units on Thursday -- and made a tackle as a gunner -- only sealed his value to the team.
Rookie receiver DeAndrew White and defensive lineman Mike Purcell also announced, via Twitter, that they had made the team’s initial final roster. Check back to this site for more announcements.
