Injuries: 49ers secondary nicked again

The 49ers’ secondary, which was healthy Sunday for the first time since Week 1, is limping again as it heads into Sunday’s game against the Giants.

Neither cornerback Tramaine Brock nor nickel corner Jimmie Ward practiced on Wednesday. Brock only recently returned from a toe injury that he suffered against the Cowboys in Week 1. He’s now dealing with a hamstring strain.

Ward, who was beaten on a long touchdown by fellow rookie Brandin Cooks Sunday, is out with a foot injury. If he can’t play, Perrish Cox would slide to nickel cornerback in passing situations and, if Brock can’t play, another cornerback, likely rookie Dontae Johnson, would enter and play on the outside.

Cox was not listed on the injury report despite suffering a bruised hip Sunday. Safety Eric Reid practiced in full with a sprained ankle.
