Thumb’s up: Kaepernick on injury report but practices

SANTA CLARA -- Colin Kaepernick was listed on the 49ers' practice participation report for the first time this season with a hand injury. He participated in full.

Kaepernick injured the thumb on his throwing hand Thursday against Seattle. He said it swelled but that X-rays revealed no broken bones.

Three 49ers did not practice Wednesday. Running back Carlos Hyde (foot) and linebacker NaVorro Bowman (knee) didn't take part, which likely will be the case for the rest of the season. Defensive end Tony Jerod-Eddie wasn't on hand. The report lists his absence as not injury related.

Both linebacker Ahmad Brooks (shoulder) and safety Eric Reid (chest) wore blue jerseys indicating they were to avoid contact. Both were limited participants.
