▪ Offense: The 49ers were dedicated to the run – including by quarterback Colin Kaepernick – early. But attrition struck the running back corps in the second half, and the 49ers simply didn’t have enough to overcome Seattle’s top-ranked defense. Grade: C
▪ Defense: The unit was a mirror of the 49ers’ offense in this one – strong early but unable to keep up the pressure in the second half with so many injuries, including to linebacker Chris Borland. The Seahawks’ running game took over after halftime. Grade: C+
▪ Special teams: The coverage units were strong, including Kassim Osgood, whose tackle on a punt return pinned the Seahawks deep in their own territory early. However, the 49ers’ return game again failed to produce. The 49ers began six drives inside their own 20-yard line. Grade: C-
▪ Overall: The fatigue from going deep into the playoffs for three consecutive years appears to finally have caught up with the 49ers, who managed only 10 points in two losses against their rivals. The 49ers’ top goal now – avoid last place in the NFC West. Grade: C
