The 49ers on Wednesday practiced without their top two running backs, Frank Gore and Carlos Hyde, and without starting receiver Michael Crabtree.
Gore said he’s felt “normal” since he left Sunday’s game in Seattle with a concussion. Still, he noted that his status for Saturday’s game was up in the air and that he had to pass the league’s post-concussion protocol.
The 49ers signed free-agent running back Phillip Tanner Wednesday. He and Alfonso Smith would be the top options if Gore and Hyde can’t play.
In San Diego, the Chargers practiced without quarterback Philip Rivers and former Cal wideout Keenan Allen, who is expected to miss the upcoming game with a broken collarbone.
