Tight end Vance McDonald will not play Sunday in Cleveland, leaving the 49ers – for now, at least – with just one healthy tight end on the roster, rookie Blake Bell.
McDonald suffered a concussion in the second quarter of Sunday’s win over the Bears. He did not practice this week and, along with running back Carlos Hyde (foot) and linebacker Michael Wilhoite (ankle), was ruled out for the game.
The 49ers could promote a practice squad tight end, Brian Leonhardt, to the 53-man roster Saturday. Leonhardt’s position coach is Tony Sparano; both men were with the Raiders last season.
Ouside linebacker Aaron Lynch, who also suffered a concussion Sunday, practiced Friday and is listed as questionable. Starters Tramaine Brock (foot) and Torrey Smith (toe, back) also are questionable.
