Juan Perez doubled in what proved to be the decisive run in the fourth inning Tuesday night as the River Cats edged the Las Vegas 51s 3-2 at Raley Field.
Robert Coello picked up the victory, allowing three hits and two runs in six innings. Hunter Strickland worked a perfect ninth for the save.
After the 51s scored once in the first inning, the River Cats scored twice in the bottom half. Darren Ford’s double, Perez’s single and a walk to Travis Ishikawa loaded the bases with none out. Adam Duvall delivered a sacrifice fly, and Ronny Cedeno hit into a run-scoring forceout.
Perez’s double drove in Ford in the fourth. Las Vegas’ Darrell Ceciliani hit a solo homer in the fifth.
