River Cats back home but lose again
Returning home didn’t help the River Cats on Saturday night.
The Tacoma Rainiers played small ball to hand Sacramento its sixth straight loss, 6-1 at Raley Field.
Tacoma collected 12 hits (10 singles and two doubles), five walks and four stolen bases. The Rainiers scored on a double steal in the sixth inning to lead 4-1.
The River Cats, who have been outscored 48-16 during their skid, tallied in the fifth inning on consecutive doubles by Skyler Stromsmoe and Ronny Cedeno.
Cats starter Braulio Lara (0-3) took the loss, allowing four runs (three earned) on six hits in 52/3 innings.
Cedeno went 3 for 5. Sacramento cleanup hitter Adam Duvall was 0 for 4, dropping his average to .400.
