River Cats’ win streak ends at three
River Cats starter Kevin Correia couldn’t protect a three-run lead, and the host Reno Aces scored three times in the eighth inning Wednesday for a 6-3 victory that broke Sacramento’s three-game winning streak.
Sacramento took a 3-0 lead in the first. After Skyler Stromsmoe led off with a single and Ryan Lollis was hit by a pitch, Adam Duvall hit his eighth homer, a line drive to left.
But Aces starter Vidal Nuno settled down, shutting out the River Cats on four hits over the next seven innings.
Correia, meanwhile, allowed single runs in the first, third and sixth, all driven in by Peter O’Brien, who had a run-scoring grounder, a sacrifice fly and a homer.
Reno broke the tie in the eighth, when its first five batters singled off Juan Gutierrez.
