Memphis’ Lyons throws gem vs. River Cats
Memphis’ Tyler Lyons struck out 12 and walked none in a complete game, leading the Redbirds to a 4-2 victory over the River Cats at Raley Field.
Lyons, who allowed seven hits, improved to 3-1 and lowered his ERA to 2.64.
With Memphis leading 3-2 in the eighth inning, Sacramento had runners on first and third with two outs, but Adam Duvall flied out. The Redbirds added an insurance run in the ninth on a fielding error by Duvall at third base, and Lyons struck out the side. Duvall also made a throwing error in Memphis’ three-run sixth inning.
