River Cats miss chances in loss to Tacoma
The River Cats wasted plenty of scoring opportunities and lost their third in a row, 6-3 to the Tacoma Rainiers on Tuesday night at Raley Field.
Sacramento went 2 for 11 with runners in scoring position, while Tacoma went 5 for 14.
The Rainiers had five consecutive singles in taking a 3-0 lead in the fourth. The River Cats scored once in the fifth, and in the seventh, Carlos Triunfel tripled in a run and scored on Kevin Frandsen’s double-play grounder to tie it.
But Tacoma took the lead with two runs in the eighth, when Jesus Montero and Stefen Romero led off with doubles and eventually scored.
