Peavy shelled early, settles down in River Cats’ loss
The Las Vegas 51s jumped on Jake Peavy for five runs in the first inning and defeated the visiting River Cats 6-3 on Friday night.
Peavy, making possibly his last rehab start for Sacramento, allowed another run in the second inning but then pitched four shutout innings before leaving. Overall, he gave up six runs (all earned) on nine hits with five strikeouts and one walk.
Kevin Frandsen of the River Cats went 3 for 4 with two RBIs. Las Vegas’ Kirk Nieuwenhuis was 2 for 4 with a home run, a double and three RBIs.
