Duffy powers Fresno over Cats
Matt Duffy hit a tiebreaking two-run homer in the fifth inning, leading the host Fresno Grizzlies to a 7-4 victory over the River Cats on Thursday night.
Fresno led 3-0 after the first inning against Ty Blach, but Sacramento rallied to tie the score 4-4 entering the bottom of the fifth. Fresno’s Max Stassi (Yuba City High School) added an RBI single in the eighth.
Grizzlies starting pitcher Mark Appel, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2013 draft out of Stanford, allowed four runs (three earned) in 4 2/3 innings.
