River Cats rally late to beat Tacoma

Darren Ford hit a three-run homer Tuesday night to start the River Cats’ rally in a 9-4 victory over the host Tacoma Rainiers.

Ford’s homer in the seventh brought Sacramento within 4-3. The River Cats went ahead with a four-run eighth highlighted by RBI singles by Brandon Hicks and Ford and Everth Cabrera’s run-scoring double.

The River Cats added two runs in the ninth on Kevin Frandsen’s homer.

Jake Dunning picked up the win with three shutout innings in relief. Starter Nik Turley went five innings, allowing three hits, two of them homers, and four runs.
