River Cats stagger home after rough trip
The River Cats ended their last trip of the season Sunday with a 9-1 loss to the Iowa Cubs in Des Moines.
Sacramento took a 1-0 lead in the first on Jarrett Parker’s sacrifice fly but finished with only three hits. Iowa scored all its runs over the first four innings and finished with 18 hits.
River Cats starter Jake Dunning gave up 12 hits and nine runs in 31/3 innings.
Sacramento went 1-7 on the trip after a franchise-record 13-game winning streak.
The River Cats host Reno on Monday night to begin a season-ending eight-game homestand. Giants second baseman Joe Panik probably will join the River Cats on Thursday to begin a rehabilitation assignment for lower back inflammation.
