Storyline: Rodrigo Lopez continued his sizzling play at Bonney Field with a goal and an assist. He scored in the run of play on a 25-yarder in the 13th minute that grazed defender Harrison Delbridge’s leg, then assisted on Mickey Daly’s header goal in the 37th minute. Lopez has scored 15 goals in 16 USL matches at Bonney Field.
First pro goal: Second-half sub Zev Taublieb scored his first pro goal inside the box in the 82nd minute. Defender James Kiffe crossed to David Estrada, whose shot was blocked by Timbers 2 goalkeeper Jake Gleeson. Taublieb, a midfielder, followed up with a sliding shot past Gleeson.
Moving to the top: With its third consecutive win at Bonney Field, Republic FC (4-2-0) is alone atop the Western Conference after Arizona United (3-1-0) and the Seattle Sounders 2 (3-2-0) both lost on Saturday.
Returning the favor: The win avenged a 2-1 Republic FC loss to the Timbers 2 (2-2-1) on April 2 in Portland.
More records: With construction completed on expansion at Bonney Field, the match drew an announced record sellout crowd of 11,242. Republic FC is 14-1-1 in USL regular-season and playoff matches at Bonney.
