How would Sac Republic’s stadium stack up against other MLS teams’?

If Sacramento Republic FC is admitted to the big leagues, its proposed soccer stadium would not be the largest in Major League Soccer.

Sacramento Republic’s planned stadium has a capacity of a little more than 20,000 people – which could be expanded up to 22,000 in the future – and will be in the old railyards in downtown Sacramento. Franchise representatives have said the facility, which would include premium and canopy-level seating, would open as soon as 2021.

Most stadiums specifically designed for soccer are, on average, around 21,700 seats but Sacramento Republic has already shown there’s strong local fervor for the sport when it sold out a Sac City College’s 20,0000-seat Hughes Stadium for a 2014 game.
