Glory, glory Sacramento: Take your shot at playing for Sacramento Republic FC
Sacramento Republic FC is holding its open tryouts this weekend, but the workouts are more than rec players take a vain chance at glory. Past tryouts have produced starting players for Sac Republic including Emrah Klimenta, who played in more than 100 games and has the all-time club lead in minutes (8,969) and starts (98). Former starters Max Alvarez, Mackenzie Pridham and Elliott Hord all played in the open tryouts as well.
The shot at glory isn’t cheap. It’s $215 to register, plus almost $15 in ticketing fees, for the Saturday-Sunday tryouts. That doesn’t include food or any special treatment. That gets you on the field in front of coach Mark Briggs and general manager Todd Dunivant. The team will play seven-on-seven games Saturday and 11-on-11 games Sunday.
Family and friends are welcome to watch the tryouts and the team will invite representatives from teams in the lower tiers of the U.S. soccer hierarchy to watch. To register, head to the team’s Eventbrite page.
