Regional digest: Gold has two NPSL All-Stars
The Sacramento Gold, eliminated in last weekend’s playoff semifinals, landed forward Manolo Pina and defender Fernando De Alba on the National Premier Soccer League 2014 All-Star team.
The Gold’s Jason Jones finished in a tie for the Golden Boot award as the semi-pro league’s leading scorer.
The New York Red Bulls U-23 and Chattanooga (Tenn.) FC, which play for the NPSL title Saturday night, also had two players each chosen for the All-Star team.
Sacramento, minus an injured Pina, lost to Chattanooga 4-1 in the semifinals. New York beat Lansing United of Michigan 2-0.

Sacramento Surge
switches indoor leagues
The Sacramento Surge, which played its first two seasons in the Professional Arena Soccer League, will join the Major Arena Soccer League for the 2014-15 season beginning in November, the club announced Thursday.
The MASL has 21 teams nationwide, including California clubs in Turlock, Ontario and San Diego.
The Surge will play its games at the Jackson Sports Academy at McClellan Park, which seats 2,000 for soccer.
