CF Pachuca defeats Sunderland AFC 3-1 at Bonney Field

Ariel Nahuelpan had a first-half brace and 19-year-old Hirving Lozano added a 67th-minute goal to lead Liga MX side CF Pachuca to a 3-1 win over Sunderland AFC of the English Premier League in an international friendly Friday night at Bonney Field.

Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford prevented a fourth goal when he blocked Ruben Botta’s penalty kick in the 71st minute. Veteran Black Cats defender John O’Shea was called for fouling Nahuelpan in the box.

Midfielder Jack Rodwell put Sunderland on top in the fourth minute with a 30-yard blast past Mexican goalkeeper Oscar Perez. Sunderland ended its Sacramento trip 0-2. The Black Cats lost 1-0 on Tuesday to Republic FC.

Sunderland completes its North America tour with a match Wednesday at Toronto FC.
