Update: Death in Elk Grove was medical emergency inside gun range

Police investigated a death Wednesday morning at an indoor gun range in Elk Grove, but authorities say the death appeared to be the result of a medical emergency and not foul play.

Officers responded to a call from The Gun Room on Survey Road around 9 a.m. and located a dead person inside the business, Elk Grove Police Department spokesman Officer Jason Jimenez said.

According to Jimenez, the death was a medical emergency and there were no signs “at all” of foul play. The incident happened before the range’s business hours.

“The death appears to be a result of a medical emergency,” the police department tweeted just after 11:30 a.m.

Identification of the victim will be handled by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.
