Two from Redding killed in early morning collision on Interstate 5 in Yolo County

Roadway fatality

Two men are dead after an early Friday traffic collision between a car and a big-rig on Interstate 5 north of Woodland in Yolo County, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Officers from the patrol’s Woodland office were called about 6:48 a.m. to the two-vehicle collision on the interstate just south of the County Road 96 overpass near the community of Yolo. The vehicles were identified as a 2004 Dodge and a 2018 Freightliner tractor-trailer.

Both occupants of the Dodge, identified as male residents of Redding, were pronounced dead at the scene, said CHP officials. The truck driver was not injured, CHP said.

Neither alcohol nor drugs were believed to have factored in the wreck, which is still under investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to call the CHP’s Woodland office at 530-662-4685.
