Sea lions, humpback whales share meal in Monterey Bay video

A drone captured quite a scene in the Pacific Ocean.

In video taken by Jason Berring Jr. of Monterey Bay Whale Watch, about 1,000 California sea lions share their mealtime with two humpback whales a few miles north of Monterey Harbor.

The sea lions have a hunting method: They all surface and then dive simultaneously to herd anchovies, Monterey Bay Whale Watch reports.

The whales capitalize on the sea lions’ technique, catching thousands of anchovies at a time in their mouths, the groups says.

Although it’s quite a sight to behold, it is not an uncommon interaction in the Monterey Bay.
