Lightning, hail, rain hit Sacramento area - when will it stop?
Showers and thunderstorms continued to move north across the Sacramento Valley and foothills in the late morning of Wednesday.
National Weather Service Sacramento forecasters predicted the activity will continue into the early afternoon. There were reports of lightning strikes and large hail in South Sacramento and rain and thunder in Fair Oaks and Carmichael.
By late afternoon, the mid-May storm is expected to leave the valley. However, NWS said thunderstorms will impact the Sierra and western Nevada throughout the day with gusty winds, small hail, heavy rain and lightning possible depending on the area.
Sunshine and warm temperatures return by Friday in Sacramento as highs reach into the low 80s by Friday.
