Mercy Hospital to expand in Folsom

Dignity Health is in the early stages of planning a new patient and office tower for its Mercy Hospital of Folsom.

The San Francisco-based company said the expansion will cost about $70 million and include a three-story inpatient tower and medical office building.

Planning is still in the preliminary stages and construction at the 1650 Creekside Drive site won’t start for at least three years, said Dignity spokeswoman Melissa Jue.

Last week, developer Angelo K. Tsakopoulos and his wife, Sofia Tsakopoulos, gave Dignity 33 acres of vacant land in Lincoln valued at $10 million. Dignity said it does not have specific plans for that land, on the west side of Highway 65 at Twelve Bridges Road, but is “actively evaluating the land for development opportunities” to increase access to health care services for residents of Lincoln and surrounding communities.
