Siemens Sacramento contracts to build trains for Denver, Minneapolis
Siemens Sacramento announced this week it has signed contracts with Denver and with the Twin Cities metro region of Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minn., to produce light-rail vehicles for those areas.
Denver Regional Transportation District has signed a $112 million contract for 29 new light-rail cars. Siemens has built more than 200 light-rail vehicles for the Denver district.
The $20 million Twin Cities contract calls for five vehicles to add to an existing Siemens-constructed fleet of 59 rail vehicles.
The vehicles will be built at Germany-based Siemens’ plant in south Sacramento on French Road.
