Truck fire closes westbound Interstate 80 near Colfax

A semi-truck fire blocked traffic on westbound Interstate 80 in Gold Run on Friday morning. The blaze was reported around 5:45 a.m. CHP tweeted a picture at 6:01 a.m. showing a trailer ablaze.

Cal Fire tweeted photos of the still-smoking refrigerated trailer sitting on the shoulder of the road while firefighters worked. Cal Fire said the trailer was hauling pork and was fully involved when firefighters arrived.

Traffic was diverted onto Rollins Lake Road, a winding side road that leads into Colfax. CHP advised drivers to expect delays. As of 9 a.m., traffic data showed significant delays on side roads in Colfax.
