Please pet the dogs at Sacramento International for less stress

Dogs will be walking the terminals of Sacramento International Airport twice a week to lower the stress of travelers.

The canines are part of a new effort to make the airport experience more enjoyable. Called the Boarding Area Relaxation Corps (BARC), the dogs started wandering with handlers around the airport Wednesday.

The animals wear navy blue vests that say “Pet Me.” The animals have been certified friendly as therapy dogs by the Lend a Heart organization.

Officials say that an estimated 30 other airports have dog airport visitation programs.
