Aerial spraying for mosquitoes begins in Arden Arcade, Carmichael
Aerial spraying for mosquitoes in the Arden Arcade and Carmichael areas began at 8:45 p.m. Wednesday night.
The spraying was prompted by the increasing number of birds and mosquito samples that have tested positive for West Nile virus.
The area targeted for aerial treatment covers approximately 15,000 acres north of the American River. The Sacramento-Yolo Mosquito and Vector Control District announced that it is using Trumpet EC, an insecticide registered by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the California EPA for use in mosquito control and routinely used throughout the United States to control mosquitoes.
Wednesday night’s aerial spraying is scheduled to conclude by midnight. Spraying also is scheduled between 8 p.m. and midnight Thursday.
Spraying updates are available on the district’s website, www.FIGHTtheBITE.net.
