Four people were hospitalized with gunshot wounds and one severely beaten after a post-Super Bowl street fight led to gunfire in North Sacramento last night.
At about 11:30 Sunday night, Sacramento police responded to a call about a street fight followed by gunfire at the intersection of Cathcart Avenue and Gillespie Street. They found four people with gunshot wounds and one beaten up outside a house that had been hosting a Super Bowl party.
One of the victims was critical, but is now stable. The other four recieved non-life threatening injuries.
Lt. Steve Oliveira said it appears as though two groups of Super Bowl revelers got into a fight in the street before a gun or guns were drawn – the number of shooters is still unclear. Two males and two females were hit – two from each group.
Oliveira said alcohol was definitely involved. Detectives are investigating at the scene and the police are looking for the shooter or shooters.
