Bail hearing set for woman accused of shooting girl, 6, in Sacramento

Adreiona Taylor will return to a Sacramento courtroom Aug. 18 for a bail review on attempted murder charges in a south Sacramento shooting that wounded a 6-year-old girl.

Taylor, 21, held without bail at Sacramento County Main Jail following her arrest at a relative’s home in Oroville in Butte County on Saturday, is suspected of two counts of attempted murder and an allegation of unlawfully discharging a firearm in connection with the July 26 shooting at Fruitridge Road and Lawrence Drive.

Taylor first appeared Tuesday in Sacramento Superior Court, where formal charges against her were read.

The girl was riding in the back seat of her mother’s car near the intersection when shots were fired from another car, striking the child.

Sacramento County sheriff’s investigators suspect Taylor targeted the woman behind the wheel. Relatives of the child and her mother contend that “bad blood” between Taylor and the child’s mother over the recent death of a mutual friend led to the shooting.

The child has since undergone surgeries and continues to recover at a local hospital.
