Lake Tahoe-area vacation home destroyed in fire

A Tahoe City home was destroyed by fire just before 6 a.m. Thursday, the North Tahoe Fire Protection District reports.

Ron Carson, district spokesman, said the residence is a “second home” near the intersection of Sequoia Avenue and Highway 89.

“It was a vacant house at the time, thank goodness,” Carson said. But flames had consumed most of the house by the time firefighters arrived, he said. There were no injuries reported.

The fire was fully contained about 7 a.m., Carson said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, he said.
