Details provided about crash that killed bicyclist on Laguna Boulevard

A bicyclist was killed Tuesday morning in a collision on Laguna Boulevard near Santorini Drive in Elk Grove.

Elk Grove Police Department spokesman Officer Christopher Trim said officers responded to westbound Laguna Boulevard at Santorini Drive about 6:30 a.m. The bicyclist was traveling westbound on Laguna when he was rear-ended by a vehicle traveling in the same direction.

The bicyclist was thrown over the hood of the vehicle and came down in the roadway. At that time, the male adult bicyclist was then hit by another vehicle traveling in the same direction, Trim said.

The bicyclist was wearing a helmet and his bike was equipped with a flashing red taillight at the time of the collision, Trim said. His name was not released pending notification of relatives.

Both drivers remained at the scene of the crash, Trim said.
